The UN’s World Urban Forum was held in Vancouver in June 2006. BCEM was honored to have been chosen to design and build the host Canadian Pavilion and five key displays and features areas. We also designed and installed the site graphics for this prestigious United Nations gathering.

Our installations included:

· The 5500 square foot Canadian Pavilion
· Entrance Garden and Gallery
· Women’s International Bazaar
· Site Wide Banners & Hardwall Graphics
· Media Centre Wall
· Giant Earth Globe in Atrium
· World’s Longest (beer & wine) Bar
· The UN Plaza

The Canadian Pavilion

The custom designed 5,500 square foot Canadian Pavilion housed 22 exhibits by various government departments and a presentation stage.

Entrance Garden & Gallery

The Entrance Garden and Gallery was a green oasis of calm in a hectic expo and featured graphics and icons from the past forums.

Tradeshow Banners & Graphics

Nine different colourful banners designs were created exclusively for WUF at the VCEC. BCEM managed the entire process from design and printing to installation of the 90 prints and distribution as mementos post event.

Giant Earth Globe

The Giant Earth Globe in the entrance atrium was a sixteen foot diameter, rotating photo-realistic globe of the earth. It set the tone for the high caliber of displays throughout the expo.

World’s Longest Bar

This custom bar was constructed from golden cedar and it ran the length of the convention centre. It was a facsimile of the famous the beer/wine bar from Habitiat’76.

The UN Plaza

The UN Plaza consisted of an all cedar amphitheatre and the adjoining cinema, Cine Urbana. This complex reflected the beauty of the West Coast by featuring Cedar log construction and West Coast Native artwork.

Audio visual design was crucial as the complex had two audio systems; one to broadcast the press conferences in the amphitheatre and the other the audio for films in the cinema.
